WHAT DOES COUNSELLING INVOLVE?
A long term commitment to counselling is not essential - many people find a short sequence of sessions sufficient for their needs. The first session is an hour long and subsequent sessions will be fifty minutes. If you arrive after the start of the session we will still finish at the appointed time. The appointments are usually weekly on the same day and time.
THE LENGTH OF THE AGREEMENT
The number of sessions that you will need will depend very much on the type of problems you bring. Usually we start off with six sessions and then review the situation.
THE COST OF THE SESSIONS
The fee is £50 per session.
PAYMENT OF SESSION
You need to pay for sessions you are unable to keep unless there are exceptional circumstances.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Information shared during the counselling is confidential. Our confidential relationship takes place within a professional organisation where consultation with colleagues and supervisors is an essential part of good practice. Within this practice your identity is not revealed. In the case of circumstances or emergencies where I consider that you may be a danger to yourself or others, then I would inform your G.P. or an appropriate agency. I would make every effort to tell you first.
